PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS:

James A. Hedrick, MD, F.A.A.P., Medical Director , Principal Investigator,  “Jim”

Dr. Hedrick obtained his BS in Engineering Nuclear Physics from the University of Chicago, his medical degree with Pritzer School for Medicine in Chicago and completed his residency at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, KY. He is board certified in pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hedrick was one of the founding partners of Physicians to Children & Adolescents in 1977. He has co-authored on many national publications in reputable journals, as well as a member of the advisory boards  and speaker panels for numerous pharmaceutical companies over the years. He is married to Dr. Janice Lantz, has two daughters and one granddaughter.

Stanley L. Block, Jr., MD, F.A.A.P, President, Principal Investigator   “Stan”

Dr. Block attended medical school at the University of Kentucky and completed his pediatric residency at Wake Forest University.  He is board certified in pediatrics, re-certified by the AAP, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Dr. Block joined Physicians to Children & Adolescents in 1982.  He is a nationally recognized speaker in infectious disease, vaccines, general pediatrics and adolescent ADHD.  He  currently serves on national editorial boards for The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, Pediatric Annals, Pediatric Drugs, Infectious Diseases in Children, Therapeutic Advances in Vaccine, Journal of Breastfeeding Biology, and Journal of Endocrinology and Hormones.  In addition, Dr. Block writes a monthly column for Pediatric Annals, is a Peer Reviewer on numerous journals and has written 3 textbooks on Acute Otitis Media.  He has authored  114 publications, being 1st author on 89 .

Dr. Block has earned numerous national awards including 1998 Practitioner Research Award by AAP, the Charles Bluestone Award in 2001 by the American Society of Otolaryngology, and in 2004 was honored with the UK Distinguished Alumnus Award.   Perhaps most special, he was locally voted Best Pediatrician by the Bardstown Community for 2010-2014.  Dr. Block and his wife Melinda reside in Bardstown, have 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren.

Daniel J. Finn, MD, F.A.A.P, Principal Investigator “Dan”

Dr. Finn completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology degree at Centre College, Danville, KY in 1990.  He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, continuing his residency at the University of Louisville and Kosair Children’s Hospitals from 1998-2001.  He joined Kentucky Pediatric/ Adult Research and Physicians to Children and Adolescents in 2001.  He is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.    Dr. Finn and his wife Ellen live in Bardstown with their 4 daughters.

Rebecca R. Findlay, MD, Principal Investigator

Rebecca R. Findlay, MD, F.A.A.P. Principal Investigator Dr. Findlay is originally from Illinois where she attended the University of Illinois and earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree. She then went on to attend South Illinois School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Findlay is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She joined Physicians to Children & Adolescents and KPAR in 1997. Dr. Findlay enjoys spending time on her farm, whether it’s fishing at the lake or horseback riding.

RESEARCH STAFF

Marty Osbourn, RN, CCRC, Research Director

Marty joined KPAR in 1991, as the first Study Coordinator for the company.  She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1988 and was one of the first 100 Study Coordinators to become a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator through ACRP, in 1997.

Since 1991, Marty has managed all aspects of the clinical research process at the site level within KPAR.   From the initial feasibility contact for a new trial through final close-out, and ensures inspection readiness at all times.  Marty is responsible for establishing relationships with sponsors/ CRO to determine feasibility of KPAR to successfully conduct a protocol,  obtain regulatory and IRB approval, contract and budget negotiations, develop source documents and data collection tools, establishing recruitment plans and ensuring recruitment expectations are met,  providing Investigator and staff training and oversight of KPAR in conjunction with the Principal Investigators.

Melanie Bishop, Research Nurse Manager

Melanie has been with KPAR since July, 2000, with the initial position of Study Coordinator. As roles changed at KPAR, Melanie’s title transitioned to Research Nurse in 2007. She obtained her Certified Clinical Research Coordinator certification through ACRP in 2005. Since 2009, Melanie has held a management role at KPAR as the Research Nurse Manager.

Lisa Good, Regulatory Director

Lisa joined KPAR for the second time in 2015. Lisa worked with KPAR from 1999 to 2007 as Regulatory Specialist, before accepting a position as Regulatory Manager with Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at the University of Louisville. Lisa earned her BA in Social Science in 1982 and became a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator in 2007.

Research Nurses:

Lisa Dones, RN, CCRC – Lisa joined KPAR in 2002 as a Study Coordinator, in 2007 became a Research Nurse. Currently Lisa is also a Recruitment Specialist, and oversees patient recruitment. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Louisville and became a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator in 2007.
